The renaissance has impacted todays society through many things, one being peoples freedom of individuality. If renaissance art had not had the impact that it did perhaps people would not be so open with the art of todays society. Renaissance art opened up a door for creativity that otherwise may not of been opened.

Printer

If it were not for the printing press, there may not been a printer today. There would have not been as many books as there is right now if Gutenburg did make the printing press.

Art

The Renaissance impacted our society in many ways, but art is a very important one. Before people tended to do portraits or religious works. Most artwork tended to be stiff and dull. Perspective, oil paints, and other new techniques broadened how art was made. Also "radical" people were more free to do as they pleased. Many patrons were willing to give money to artist, even if it was controversial. Greek myths and other pagan topics were touched, much was fantasy. People experimented more. They set the stage for making art a more sensual practice and put focus on secular life, instead of just the afterlife. They appreciated earthly beauty, that's why you see alot of nature and naked people. It liberated art.

Never happened

I think that the Renaissance literature impacts our society today because we still study Shakespeare and Dante. The fact that we still study these people and thier works shows how much their liturature is important.

The Impact the renaissance has impacted our society.

During the Renaissance era, guns were improved upon. Due to the improvements of guns, guns soon evolved from single shot muskets to mini-guns capable of fired 200 hundred shots per second. The invention of the gun has made countries harder to conquer, so one of the reason's America hasn't been invaded was because it would be a very hard thing to due. This is one of the things the Renaissance has given us.

How Art From The Renaissance Has Impacted Our Society

Art from the Renaissance has impacted our society because if we hadn't of seen art from the Renaissance, we wouldn't be able to elaborate off of them. Without the Renaissance art, we probably wouldn't have half the art we have today.
The Renaissance has impacted the people of today because people today aren't as afraid to show their individuality. As we know, individuality was a huge factor to the Renaissance and it has led to modern thinking as we know it.

Renaissance Blog

The Renaissance impacted our society today because it allows us to freely express ourselves in art, music, and theater today. Without the renaissance being the start of art, and music we probably would not be as expressive as we are today.
One way that the renaissance has impacted our society is by learning how to think beyond religion. Back then people use to think that God managed everything and that everything you is for God. Since then people started to think and believe on other religions like Scientology and others.

Politics

Many renaissance philosophers impacted the way we define our views on politics. Machiavelli's most well-known piece of writing called, "The Prince" is notorious for discussing the idea that if you do gain power, you must be willing to do anything to remain in charge. And politics still practice this today by manipulating and lying to large masses to cloud their judgement and hold onto the authority they have.
The Renaissance has impacted the architecture of our society. A lot of buildings are based on designs from the Renaissance. For example, the White House was based off of a design by Michaelangelo.
The Renaissance has impacted our society with new ways of litterature like the book The Fault In Our Stars by John Green. This book is inspring and if the Renaissance never happend, we probably wouldnt be writing stories and wouldn't be as evolved in our writing as we are today.
The Renaissance changed the world for the better. The white house was designed based on one of Michelangelo's ideas.

"Remberance"

The Renissance allowed a way for artists today to express themselves, through the art of expression.

Impact from Renaissance

The Renaissance has impacted our society because it showed people and helped people develope new ideas and not be afraid to show them to the door.
The Renaissance has impacted our society because it gave us beautiful art. The art then branched out and lead to music and many other things.
Teen wolf shows us that family is something to be cherished and that you need to stick together because you never know what could happen.

Watermelon

"I've been drinking watermelon". This is a line from a famous song called "Drunk in Love" and it's written by Beyonce. This lyric has a very dirty meaning and it shows how our society values sex, and getting the most out of it, and the fact that women are just seen as bodies and not human beings.

Sports

The movie "42" reflects our values and beliefs because in the time when Jackie Robinson started playing baseball, nobody wanted him to be in the major league, so the players tried to hurt him so that he would quit. If Jackie Robinson were to have quit, sports and the way we view them wouldn't be the way they are today.

Same love

Same Love by Macklemore is a very good example of how beliefs and values have changed over time. This songs talks about the rights of gays and how they should be able to be just as happy as anyone else. Back in the day most people didn't even talk about their sexual orientation and this is a big step forward in the way people feel about same sex marriage.  Same sex marriage is still frowned upon by many people, but the major change is that someone can sing about it or talk about it freely.
Today's influences in art, music, theater, movies, etc. reflect negatively on our generation and what we value. A popular image in pop culture is the well-known, Miley Cyrus, previously known as Hannah Montana. Her performance at the VMA's was insulting to women and too vulgar to show. But this is an image during the VMA's of Miley "grinding" on Robin Thicke singing his controversial song, Blurred Lines. These two, along with many other Hollywood stars, have given our generation a bad name. The song was convicted of encouraging rape, date drugging, cheating, and casual sex. Miley touching herself and throwing herself all over Thicke evidently didn't help his case. They are just a few of the many examples of what our society really values, which is money, sex, power, popularity, and looks.

How Theatre Impacts Todays Society

Why I believe theratre reflects our values in todays society. Theatre reflects unity in one large group in our society today. The art of theatre is many arts combined, there is the art of dancing, singing and acting. The art of acting and portaying someone you are not does not harm, it simply lets you have an outlet to become someone who is not you for a short period of time. Theatre is a beautiful way of expressing who you are through a differnt character, hence why theatre is popular. It is a way for both young and old to express themselves through an alluring art.

Dance

Dance as an art form has the power to portray the true reality around us through the use of movement.
I belive that dance is a reflection of our society today, because of the many forms and cultures that contribute to dance as a whole. A dance piece is created from a person’s own personal experience. Therefore, it does reflect that person’s reality. Dance has been around for many years and has changed over the years, and the different types of dance can also identify with the different types of people who perform them. In society today we see a lot of new dance "phases" popping up because it is what the audience and the genearl public want. They want dances to do at home and simple enough that majority of people can do them without proper training. However dance puts things into perspective about how art is a reflection of society and that it produces our own reality, and we see that very well through the use of dance in general.

To Drunk To Realize Influences on Society

The Art and Literature of our time shows us that our society values sexual intercourse of anytime and anywhere more then anything else.A example of this would be one of Beyonce's new singles Drunk in Love. Listeners would not think that this song has anything to do with sex until you really listen to it. As you listen you start to realize her singing lyrics such as"I've been drinking watermelon and cant keep my fingers off you baby I want you." Also "Cant keep your eyes off my fatty daddy".

Terrorist Threats

Ab-soul's "terrorist threats" featuring Danny Brown and Jhene Aiko discusses the political issues we as a country may go through. America is known within many other countries to get involved into conflicts for personal gain which has caused these terrorist threats and such a colossal hatred. I believe that it is able to depict the warfare, not just here in America but within other regions of the world.
Givenchy NY Fashion Week 2014

Fashion today reflects the personality, culture and society of today.  Fashion shows the different personalities there is in the world. For example some people enjoy wearing jeans and a t-shirt and others enjoy dressing up everyday. Fashion expresses the culture that we live today, we identify ourselves on what we wear and we pick the colors and styles of our clothing based on our mood so based on our fashion we identify our culture. Society today is mainly based on looks and what we wear we separate each other based on our clothing and express who we are.

The art and literature of the Renaissance tells us that they valued their religon. With the common art and paintings of Mary and Jesus, show how they would view God. The emotion and detail put into the paintings show thier morals. Childish Gambino's song 'Flight of The Navigator' exibits how the morals in the Bible still exsist in our society. He talks about how he and his girlfriend still sleep in tradition and how he kind of had a dream of falling in love, I would say the old fashioned way. He shows respect towards the girl in the dream and how the sexual things don't matter.

Fairytale Endings

  • The art and literature of our time tell us that people, especially younger girls, value and believe in a fairytale ending. The majority of romance movies demonstrate how one girl will eventually find her prince charming and live happily ever after. Although this might not always be true, these movies increase the belief of a fairytale ending within the mind of these younger girls. To continue the stereotypical way of thinking, when watching a fairytale you always see a guy saving a girl from the hardships of life, but you never see it the other way around. It just enforces the idea that the guy must always take the first step in saving a girl from the struggle of life.

Imagine

The song Imagine, by John Lennon reflects on how the world could be so peaceful, and how the world could  truly come together if it wasn't so corrupt. Currently, there is a variety of crimes all over the U.S and even all over the globe. For us, day-to-day crime is normal, killing people in normal, racism, and it shouldn't be. This song represents how the world and society should be, that people should be close, that they could be close. In this song I feel as if he is truly trying to speak out to everyone, trying to catch the attention of everyone so a change could be made.

Female Body

This Magazine cover depicts Beyonce and on the side it shows ways to loose weight. This day in age, people worship their bodies and dieting. Perfection is importaint to American society and if you arent perfect you stand out. Perfect to us as Americans means to have a slim body with big assets and and a beautiful face. Make-up has become apart of the daily life for women and even some men to make themselves look better. This just comes to show that people are very concerned with how they look and how other people see them.

The arts and literature of Nelson's era.

This type of graffiti was made due to the fact that most American's of this era are under the belief that the government has become corrupt and controlling. The decrease in available jobs and the current economy has caused most American's to dislike and question the competence of the senate, congress, and the president. The current belief and value of this era is breaking free from the government's controlling grip and using every available method to re-claim the ideals of freedom America was built on; re-claiming old world values.
